Day 14
I managed to find (again) my Garmin Forerunner 305. This is a huge hunk of GPS that you wear on your wrist when walking/running/biking/etc...to map your progress in miles. I had rediscovered it a few months ago when I had the silly idea of picking up my running again. I had yet again put it somewhere with the thought of using it. I liked using it previously when I ran some half-marathons despite the weight and size. The mile pace counter helps to give you that mental pick-up that you gotta kick it in gear since you are now running at a slower pace than you can walk the distance! Hate that!
This morning, I synced it up with the satellite and took off walking on the track. Wow, I was feeling it in my legs this morning! Probably a combination of step class last Thursday, soccer on Friday, stair-stepper on Saturday and walking the zoo yesterday. Most noticeably it was in my lower legs (on the outside of my legs above the ankles). It was one of those annoying pains, not crazy painful, but something that made me concentrate harder on walking it out. When I get pain like that, I visualize all the bad foods and drinks I've consumed working their way out of my system...the price to pay for years of bad habits!
I added a new ticker at the bottom of the blog to add more fun into this new lifestyle! My hometown is Scottdale, PA (sending a shout-out), which is in southwestern PA (where we say "yinz" and "pop"). The walking distance between Sierra Vista and Scottdale (according to Google Maps) is 2,023 miles. I am going to start adding up my cardio miles to see how long it takes me to "walk" to Scottdale. I welcome any guesses as to the date I will hit that mileage!
